Westminster Catechism #3
We had a great vacation. It’s good to be back although I have to admit I’m struggling this morning. Back to life: unpacking, laundry, grocery shopping. I feel like Will saying, “but that’s not fun!!!” Well, being that I wasn’t able to post the ”Sunday Question,” I thought I’d put it on here first thing this morning. I had wanted to include this passage as well this morning and I think it sort of goes along with the question. It was encouraging to me as I begin my week to focus on His word. I never want it to feel like a “chore” to stay in God’s word…like something I check off of my list. This morning I was reminded WHY I need the word and that it is truly a reward. May this encourage you as well.
“The law of the Lord is perfect, restoring the soul; The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple. The precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; The commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes. The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; The judgments of the Lord are true; they are righteous altogether. They are more desirable than gold, yes, than much fine gold; Sweeter also than honey and the drippings of the honeycomb. Moreover, by them Your servant is warned; In keeping them there is great reward.” Psalms 19:7-11
Question 3: What is the Word of God?
Answer: The holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the Word of God, the only rule of faith and obedience.
